  5. Facing surgery, let alone surgery that results in an ostomy, may seem overwhelming to you at this time. Yet you can live a full life with an ostomy. The feelings of uncertainty, fear, frustration or loneliness you may be experiencing are not unusual. The majority of people facing change,
  6. be it in their bowel function, starting a new job
  7. or moving to a new city, have similar reactions and feelings. With change, there is always an adjustment process as you learn about
  8. unfamiliar aspects, and this takes time.
  9.     The more you learn about the care and
  10. function of your ostomy, the easier it
  11. becomes to accept it as part of yourself. A
  12. sense of humor, patience, time and a positive
